Grameen Shikkha-CISD Vocational Training Center Launched

Profrssor Yunus and Ambassador Gerben de Jong at inaugural of GS-CISD VTC

The Grameen Shikkha-CISD Vocational Training Center, a vocational training institute of Grameen Shikkha constructed with financial assistance from C&A, was inaugurated on 8 January 2013.

The Inauguration ceremony was presided over by Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Laureate and founder of the Grameen Bank, at the center at 65 North Kalma, Savar, Dhaka. Mr. Gerben de Jong, Honorable Ambassador of the Netherlands in Dhaka, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mr. Chris Breninkmeyer, director of C&A, Mrs. Veronika Breninkmeyer, and head of C&A corporate affairs Mr. Philip Chamberlain also joined the ceremony.

Sixty-three Hunter PSN-Grameen scholars have moved to university

Sixty-three Hunter PSN-Grameen scholars have moved to university over the last three years. This scholarship program called the 'Hunter PSN-Grameen Scholarship' started in 2008 to provide financial assistance to 500 high school students from the Hunter Foundation, UK. Currently 63 Hunter scholars are studying in undergraduate level in different universities of Bangladesh. Another 169 students are studying in higher secondary level and 268 in secondary level. Scholars are provided scholarship support on a regular basis.
