PAN is an initiative of the International DevelopmentResearch Centre (IDRC), a public corporation created by the Parliamentof Canada to help researchers and communities in the developing world findsolutions to their social, economic, and environment al problems. IDRCconnects people, institutions and ideas to ensure that the results of researchit supports and the knowledge that research generates are shared equitablyamong it partners, North and South.

IDRC is involved with Grameen Communications for introducingfull internet services to educational institutions and social organizationsin Bangladesh on a sustainable basis.The specific objectives are as follows:
