Nobel delegates with Grameen borrowers
Professor Ole Danbolt Mjøs, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and Ms. Bente Erichsen, Director of the Nobel Peace Center, visited Grameen from July 15 - 20, 2008. During their visit they attended the inauguration ceremony of the Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition at Grameen Bank tower, met with government and civic leaders at a special reception held in their honor, met with Grameen borrowers and exchanged views with leaders of selected Grameen sister organizations. Professor Mjøs also addressed more than 4,000 Bangladeshi students at a special program held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center on July 17, 2008. Professor Mjøs and Ms. Erichsen attended a center meeting at the Center No. 7 of Dhamrai Branch on July 18, 2008, and were very impressed by the loan activities of the Grameen borrowers and by the improvement in their quality of life. |
