New Funding Initiative

Grameen Trust is considering a number of new initiatives to finance its replication projects.  One of these is direct investment and partnership with other organizations which are following the Grameen Bank model in order to reduce poverty.  As its first attempt, Grameen Trust will invest in Nirdan Uthan Bank by  buying shares equivalent to 11% of   the paid up issued equity capital of 10 million Nepali rupees.   This bank is to  be opened by Dr.  H.D.  Pant, Chairman of Nirdhan, a  GT funded replication project in Nepal   in  his  attempt to find new sources   for financing the Grameen Bank replication project. The bank has applied for registration with Nepal Rastra Bank  and is waiting for approval.
