Sixty-three Hunter PSN-Grameen scholars have moved to university over the last three years. This scholarship program called the 'Hunter PSN-Grameen Scholarship' started in 2008 to provide financial assistance to 500 high school students from the Hunter Foundation, UK. Currently 63 Hunter scholars are studying in undergraduate level in different universities of Bangladesh. Another 169 students are studying in higher secondary level and 268 in secondary level. Scholars are provided scholarship support on a regular basis.
In 2006 a high level team including Lord Hunter from the Hunter Foundation visited Bangladesh to observe Grameen activities for the poor of Bangladesh. They committed to support 500 poor meritorious students in Bangladesh who needed financial assistance to carry on their studies. Following an agreement between Hunter Foundation and Grameen Shikkha in 2007, the foundation is sponsoring 500 scholarships under Grameen Shikkha management. |
